Right, I DON'T downright HATE the PSP, but I sure as hell hate the image Sony is giving it.
For the lunch of Sony's new handheld console, a fashion show was held in "The home of the beautiful people: Los Angeles" well this makes sense as the PSP looks all shiny and whatnot, why not hold a fashion show and invite those ultra amazing celebrities which you see too much of anyway? Well for one: THEY'RE THICK AS SHIT!
Next time Sony invite people who know about what your producing... oh wait, you don't care, as long as you show some famous but clueless celeb holding this "Amazing" creation yours, your reputation is pretty much soaring through the skies.
But as you can guess, it was all publicity with the PSP I mean would you see Nicole Ritchie rushing to play this? Whoever did manage to grab a PSP and try to sell did a real good job "My god... what... what... Uh, What a amazing... you know... wow... the screen on that, is amazing" and "It so slick, it goes with what I'm wearing" hmmm, makes you want to rush to your local electronics shop and purchase this "amazing" and clothes coordinated piece of technology huh? *sigh* As said earlier this was a fashion show alongside the fashion-ness was PSP accessories (carrying cases) designed by Marc Jacobs, Jennifer Lopez and Waraire Boswell...
MY god! Is it that ludicrous that we have to get carrying cases designed by fashion experts (bar Jenifer Lopez) that will probably cost more than the PSP itself. So we have come to this...
a handheld based on social status and IT factor, "your not IT without a PSP" which means the masses will blindly buy this handheld in a attempt to score brownie points with their friends (I'm not talking about everyone who will buy the PSP just those idiots who care for nothing but being cool) As for me, the PSP seems more like a glorified graphics handheld seeing how only a handful of games I would like to play on it, but whatever floats your boat. Also I wouldn't want to shed money on it because IT'S SONY! if it isn't a TV, chances are it will break. 85% of people I know, their Playstation 2s broke, so imagine if you dropped your PSP on the street, you'll be shitting yourself, I guarantee you. Plus the shooting UMD discs are disgraceful, granted you shouldn't twist it, but it shouldn't happen FULL STOP. So that's my two cents. I don't think the DS is all that great either but that's a different story.
Oh and Donkey Konga 3 rocks! Go import it, don't if you haven't got friends to play with.
